Steve Ness began his career in the surety industry in 1981 and is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Surety Association of Canada, having assumed the post in August 1994. He is also one of the association’s founders and one of its original directors.

Mike Cluett joined the Surety Association of Canada in January 2026 and holds the role of Regional Director, Ontario & Atlantic Canada. He is responsible for expanding the use of surety products among construction purchasers and other bond users in Ontario and the Atlantic Canada provinces (Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island) by promoting the interests of the surety industry with public bodies and other stakeholders.
